AIA Editorial Board Meeting & 1st International Symposium on Advances in Aerodynamics Successfully Held in Chengdu

On Dec. 14 - 15, 2018, theAIA (Advances in Aerodynamics) Editorial Board Meeting & 1stInternational Symposium on Advances in Aerodynamics was successfully held inChengdu, Sichuan Province, China. It was organized by Chinese AerodynamicsResearch Society (CARS) and China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center(CARDC). 

On Dec. 14, Zhigong Tang,chairman of CARS and researcher of CARDC, announced the opening of theinternational symposium. Zhaolin Fan, general director of CARDC, delivered aspeech to extend his warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all theparticipants. He also expressed his willingness for them to exchange andcooperate with CARDC, and his earnest hope to support the development of AIAjournal. The symposium attracted more than 60 participants,including 20 from outside mainland China. 22 professorsor scholars made presentations to exchange their recent work and latest ideasin the field of aerodynamics. 

On Dec. 15, the AIAeditorial meeting was convened. 30 associate editors and 4 editors-in-chiefattend the meeting. Firstly, Zhigong Tang, editor-in-chief of AIA, gave anbrief introduction of AIA launching process. Then, Kun Xu, anothereditor-in-chief of AIA, announced members of AIA editorial board and introducedthe submitted manuscripts. On behalf of CARS, Tang also issued letters ofappointment to editors-in-chief, associate editors and managing editor. Afterthat, Springer Nature, the AIA journal publisher, gave a presentation about thejournal website and its submission and peer review system. Finally, theattendees discussed and exchanged their comments and ideas about the journalscope, advantages, manuscript sources and its sustainable development. 

Thismeeting provides an academic exchange platform for specialists and scholars inaerodynamics at home and abroad. On the other hand, AIA journal also benefitsfrom valuable comments and suggestions. With the meeting and the journalcomplementing each other, it will promote AIA to become an internationallyinfluential journal in near future.
